Tarabiya

a dance a music show created for you

to experience Tarab!

In a tribute to Egypt and to celebrate the January revolution, this first
Tarabiya Show will showcase the music of Egypt's Golden Age.

The musicians will play many traditional and beloved pieces and will perform the
music and songs written especially for Om Kalsoum- the voice of Egypt.
In this manner we hope to bring you memories and feelings that will invoke Tarab.
There is no word in the English language that accurately defines the word "Tarab."
In Arabic culture "Tarab" is used to describe the emotional effect of the music on the listener.

These emotions induce ecstasy and trance. The word "Saltanah" is part of the overall Tarab experience and occurs when the musicians or dancers reach a higher state of Tarab and create the ecstasy. The musicians "Saltanah Musical Ensemble" will play for the dancers who will bridge the emotions from the music to the audience. The "Saltanah Musical Ensemble" will be the enablers of the Tarab

.
Ecstasy and Trance comes in many forms. We hope you come to experience this with us.
